The MET formula

One MET is the energy your body uses at rest — about 1 kilocalorie per kilogram of body weight per hour. Any activity's energy cost is its MET value multiplied by your body weight and the time spent:

The Compendium of Physical Activities — the standard reference catalog of MET values — lists shoveling snow by hand at these intensities:
