Reverse Text Generator

Flip any text backwards by character, by word order, or letter-by-letter within each word — plus instant character count, word count, and a palindrome check.

Quick Facts

Character reversal
Text is split into individual characters, the order is inverted, then rejoined
The classic "reverse text" method — "Hello" becomes "olleH".
Palindrome test
A palindrome reads identically forwards and backwards
Checked after lowercasing and stripping spaces/punctuation, e.g. "A man, a plan, a canal: Panama".

About the Reverse Text Generator

This tool reverses text using the standard method behind virtually every online "reverse text" or "backwards text" generator: split the string into individual characters, invert their order, and rejoin them. It also supports two common variants — reversing the order of the words while keeping each word spelled normally, and reversing the letters inside each word while keeping the words in their original order — plus quick statistics (character count, word count) and a palindrome check.

The three reversal modes

  • Reverse characters (full string): every character, including spaces and punctuation, is reversed end to end. "Calculator Cloud" becomes "duolC rotaluclaC". This is what most people mean by "reverse text."
  • Reverse word order: the sequence of words is flipped, but each word keeps its normal spelling. "Calculator Cloud is fast" becomes "fast is Cloud Calculator".
  • Reverse letters in each word: word order stays the same, but the letters inside each word are individually reversed. "Calculator Cloud" becomes "rotaluclaC duolC".

How the character reversal works

The text is read as a sequence of Unicode characters (using code-point-aware splitting so accented letters and emoji are not corrupted), the sequence is reversed, and the characters are joined back together with no separator. Formally, for a string of characters c₁c₂c₃…cₙ, the reversed string is cₙ…c₃c₂c₁. This is a pure rearrangement — no characters are added, removed, or changed, so the reversed text always has exactly the same character count as the original.

Palindrome checking

A palindrome is a string that reads identically forwards and backwards once you ignore case, spaces, and punctuation — "racecar" and "A man, a plan, a canal: Panama" are classic examples. The checker lowercases the text, strips everything that is not a letter or digit, and compares the cleaned string to its own character-reversal.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a reverse text generator actually do?
It takes your input text and rearranges its characters (or words, or the letters within each word) in the opposite order. Full character reversal is the classic form: "hello" becomes "olleh". No letters are changed or removed — only their order.
What is the difference between "reverse words" and "reverse each word"?
"Reverse word order" flips the sequence of whole words but spells each word normally — "one two three" becomes "three two one". "Reverse letters in each word" keeps the words in their original positions but spells each one backwards — "one two three" becomes "eno owt eerht".
Does reversing text change the character count?
No. Reversal only reorders the existing characters — spaces, letters, and punctuation included — so the reversed output always has the exact same character count as the original text.
How is the palindrome check performed?
The text is converted to lowercase and every character that is not a letter or digit (spaces, commas, punctuation) is stripped out. The result is compared to its own character-by-character reversal; if they match, the text is a palindrome.
