About the ACFT

The Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) is the U.S. Army's physical fitness test of record. It is made up of six events, and each event is converted to a point value from 0 to 100, so a perfect test is 600 points. This calculator adds the six event point values you earned - the numbers printed on your DA Form 705 scorecard - into a single total and tells you whether that combination passes or fails.

The six events

  • MDL - 3-Repetition Maximum Deadlift: the heaviest weight you can lift for three deadlift repetitions.
  • SPT - Standing Power Throw: a 10-lb medicine ball thrown backward overhead for distance.
  • HRP - Hand-Release Push-Up: push-ups with the hands lifted off the ground at the bottom, in a two-minute window.
  • SDC - Sprint-Drag-Carry: a five-part 250-meter shuttle run performed for time.
  • PLK - Plank: a forearm plank held as long as possible.
  • 2MR - Two-Mile Run: a timed two-mile run.

How scoring and passing work

Each event's raw performance is converted to points using the Army's age- and sex-based scoring tables. To pass the ACFT you must earn at least 60 points in every single event and a combined total of at least 360 out of 600. The scoring is all-or-nothing per event: if even one event falls below 60 points, the whole test is a fail no matter how high the total. Because six events at the 60-point minimum already sum to 360, clearing the 60-point floor in every event automatically meets the total requirement.

How to read your result

Enter the point value you earned in each event, not your raw reps, weight, or time. The calculator returns your total out of 600, a pass or fail verdict, how many of the six events you cleared, and your lowest event - the one most likely to sink an otherwise passing total. Use that weakest event to decide where to focus training.

Before a record test

Point values and passing standards are set by current Army policy and can change, so always confirm your requirement against the latest official DA Form 705 and your unit guidance. If you are returning from injury or have a medical condition, clear strenuous testing with a healthcare provider or your unit medical staff first.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a passing ACFT score?
You must earn at least 60 points in every one of the six events and a total of at least 360 out of 600. Because scoring is all-or-nothing per event, failing any single event fails the whole test even if your total is high.
How many points is each ACFT event worth?
Each of the six events - deadlift, standing power throw, hand-release push-up, sprint-drag-carry, plank, and two-mile run - is scored from 0 to 100 points, so the maximum possible total is 600.
How is the ACFT total score calculated?
Each event's raw performance is first converted to a 0-100 point value using the Army's age- and sex-based scoring tables printed on the DA Form 705 scorecard. The six point values are then added together for a total out of 600.
Can I pass with a high total but one weak event?
No. If any single event scores below 60 points, the test is a fail regardless of the total. Every one of the six events must reach at least 60 points to pass.
